I think the monster did not have 3d audio source, so it always sounded like he was super close. 

Got some classic scares from this game :D

I did have trouble with the 3d audio source so it just checks the distance between it and the player and if it's close it plays the audio. Hope it didn't breake the immersion.

alright, which motor did you use?

The feeling of it getting closer, by hearing it would probably make it more immersive! I never had time to look around and see it, so 3d audio would have helped :⁠-⁠)

I figured it out I needed to turn up the spatial blend.
