You need to be out of food , it'll activate on it's own.
so there's no way on stacking up on food from scavenging? Just a 50/50 shot on finding some whenever ur starving?
Indeed , it's only a random shot. You can stack up on food by staying at an inn several times , but you can't forage repeatedly to take some advance , no... Though the chances of getting food do increase with the forager trait...Somewhat.
