Genuinely, after going through this, I feel like we need more trans based horror. Coming from a transmasc guy who loves horror, this feels like so much potential. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like the true ending is a dream or fantasy for an easier way to transition. Cliche yes, but as someone who's had occasional shapeshifter dreams that I vaguely remember, I could definitely see it.

(Sidenote do not trust the shapeshifter dreams. They will likely give you gender pain.)

i agree!! this particular work was heavily inspired by other queer body horror, which is definitely a growing genre. if you're looking for more trans horror games, i would recommend we know the devilwinter (not quite horror imo, but very good), and SABBAT (a bit more fun and tongue-in-cheek), and for queer horror books, i would recommend tell me i'm worthless by alison rumfitt, her body and other parties by carmen maria machado, and our wives under the sea by julia armfield. i can't wait to see more come out in the next few years! <3
