I recorded a playthrough of this game while also sharing my thoughts on the game.

I enjoyed the actual battle mechanics with movement increasing your unit’s effective hit points. The game UI though could use some polishing. I think it would be a good decision to utilize more horizontal space to avoid getting out of the screen in terms of the vertical space (see the last minutes of the video during the last level). It’s also not always clear what areas are clickable since there are no borders and everything is just pitch black.

The enemy units variety and asymmetric nature of the game balance (our units are different from the enemy units) make this game quite enjoyable for me.

I would like to play more levels. :) The gameplay looks quite solid. With some extra content and perhaps some extra mechanics to make the level design more varied, it could somewhat reliably expect the player to stay for several hours. I don’t know if it’s possible to make it a good 10+ hours experience, but it’s a funny little game nonetheless.

Maybe with a random level generation, it could be a good mobile game? Since the battle only takes 2-5 minutes, it could be a good candidate for that.

Thank you for taking the time to play Status Code and record a playthrough! :-)

That’s great feedback for the UI. It is certainly a bit rough right now.

The random level generation is a great idea. I’ll have to think on that!
