If you're still looking for a teammate, here are some ideas. If you like one of them, and want to work together, let me know!

From easiest to hardest in scope:

Autopong Arena: Pong that plays itself, but you as the player get points when either of the paddles misses the ball. You can "mutate" the ball by spending your points to give it powerups like extra speed or a random bounce, or placing brick-breaker style blocks on the playfield.

Idle Worship: An overhead scene where the player places an "idol" in the middle of the screen. Little sims walk into the scene and worship the idol. Players unlock new idols and can change them, different idols attract different sims, the goal is to find an idol that keeps the most sims happy and in worship as possible. Idols may be things like animal statues, flags, religious symbols, you can use real world idols or make up parody ones. I would need to do some design work to figure out what criteria "sims" have that make them attracted to certain idols. Maybe you can place multiple idols but sometimes it will cause them to fight or something, or maybe sims get "bored" of a certain idol over time and "lose interest" so the goal is to keep changing the idols without "losing followers" in those religious transitions :)

Cube World: A game inspired by the 1990s toy, "Cube World":

The player creates square "rooms" and then AI stickpeople populate the rooms and interact in novel ways. For instance, a room could have a halfpipe, and when the stick figure enters the room, he begins a skateboarding animation. No score would exist in the game, but the goal would be to create novel interaction spaces between the rooms and the stick figures. This isn't a very fleshed out idea and is probably too big in scope for a jam, but it's the first thing I thought of when I thought of "idle mutations" so, here it is :)

hey thanks for your ideas but am workng on a game and i want to show it to you to tell if it's good for the jam and the theme (give me your discord )

(1 edit)

sorry don't have a discord, but if you pm it to me I'll give you feedback! good luck on your project!

Edit: just realized itch doesn't have a PM system I don't think. In any case, if you post it here, I can give feedback, but I understand if you want to keep it as a surprise for the jam. good luck again!
