An absolutely amazing experience!

The first act plot twist was so effective to the point where I can't help but actively try to analyze every part of the story that seems a little off. Soooo as a fruit of my amazement towards the story, I have concocted a theory regarding some mysteries currently in the story in particular about Xavier.

Spoiler alert up to chapter 14

Xavier is straight up suspicious.

Now before you debunked my seemingly outlandish theory, allow me to present a few reasons as to why I came to this conclusion.

1. Lance's seemingly dissonant view on the pristine carriers (and his history with being a glorified delivery boy)

Now you might be thinking, is there anything wrong with him? Isn't he just a backstabbing asshole?

The answer is yes and no.

First I need to remind you that Lance himself is present during Xavier's escape from Reesom and therefore knows what they are form the very beginning. Secondly, his decision to "sell" Xavier and his future acts of continuing to do so(as implied multiple times) are simply contradictory to point 1. Why did he keep selling them to Resoom if he knew that they're bad? One might think that it's simply because he's a selfish asshole, but other evidence suggests otherwise. This brought us to our third point, why did he envy the pristine carriers during the first interlude chapter? As someone who clearly hates the company and have known that they're doing some nasty stuff under the cover, one would think that he wouldn't want to be in that position, so what gives? This implicate that there might've been something that changed his views on the pristine carriers in between the time period of first meeting Xavier and "selling" Xavier to Resoom.

2. The white haired girl revealed at the end of the second interlude.

This dissonant is further proven by the fact that he's not surprised when he's assigned to guard a girl who is most likely a pristine carrier herself, that has been living with a sufficiently fancy arrangement underground.

We could conclude from this point that Lance himself holds a knowledge that the resistance doesn't, hence why he is insistent that THEY betrayed him rather than him betraying them (as evident by his wording from the prologue and the fact that he admitted that he was waiting for an apology from them for a long time) this suggess that he have a strong reason to think of himself as in the right.

3. Xavier's physical state during his initial introduction

When we first started act 1, it was shown that Cyrus isn't exactly in an ideal physical state (whether it's thanks to his head injury or nod is up to debate). But one thing that's weird is that even if Cyrus doesn't get his head hurt, he still needed physical rehab after being harvested for so long. Which makes it seems more unbelievable that Xavier was perfectly capable of just waltzing out of his confinement during a raid.

For now that's all I can actually think of given the amount of information we have.

And even then since most of this information comes from largely assuming that Lance actually isn't just a one time backstabber character,  it can be easily ruled out if it's revealed that he is simply just a selfish conniving bastard with no other motives other than money(but that's just a waste of storytelling opportunity in my humble opinion)

So yeah this is just me trying to get some stuff that seems odd to me out of my head, by no means is this a seriously thought out theory.

That is a lot of stuff of my chest 😌

not sure how far you or anyone else has read so this may be SPOILERS******

Not gonna lie, Xavier did come off as suspicious initially, but I have reason to believe he's a good guy and I also have a small theory as to why I think so, referring the points you made:

1. Lance most probably thinks pristine carriers are "pampered" for the "work" that they "do". I'm sure you get what i mean.

Lance had a tough upbringing as we all know, at that time a thought that would be going through any child/young teenager's mind is how nice it is for the people in Resoom. Although he is much wiser than at that age, he still thinks that the carriers are being treated and pampered like eggs despite actually knowing  what's happening to them. Why he keeps selling them is easy, as after being literally kicked off the team he has nothing and is unable to provide for himself. And I don't think putting 'former raider' on your resume is going to get you a good job, since it's all he knew how to do at the time. So being presented with an opportunity to pay some bills must have been an offer he couldn't refuse. As to why he sold Xavier is a personal theory of mine and I'm sure other people have come to this conclusion too maybe idk. So it was hinted briefly that Lance and Aaron were a thing ; ) , but they fell off somewhere. It's clear that the space in Aaron's heart was quickly filled by Xavier, leaving poor Lance with an even more broken heart that may have been revived by hatred and spite, Leading to the decision of selling Xavier becoming very easy.  Other than thinking that they are pampered I think Lance has no reservations or hateful feelings toward carriers

2. Well, he does know of the existence of the carriers and considering the breakouts that have been occurring and how I said he thinks about the carriers, it shouldn't really be a surprise anyway. um, as everything else you said, the thing about supervillains is:  They no matter what think that what they think or their way of thinking is correct so considering the antagonistic role he's been playing we can assume this is evident( but I'm sure all he needs it some talk-no-jutsu, fix him up rq ;) )

3. Don't forget about the amount of time each had spent  in Resoom. If memory serves me, Xavier was there for 50-100+ years while Cyrus was there for 300+ years so  it's obvious that Xavier was less sluggish than Cyrus was, but HE STILL WAS HEAVILY AFFECTED as his sluggishness is what lead to the death of his rescuer.

i would have reached a similar conclusion that Lance is a money hungry backstabber, but the bond he formed with Cyrus just proves that he only wanted some love and attention like any other puppy would  : )) . hope this clears some stuff.

Honestly that's probably the most logical conclusion, but after act 1 I find it way more fun to come up with multiple possibilities for future events. You know,  not to take everything at face value.

But then if Lance's motivation really is jealousy (or part of it is) that would've been hilariously petty and very much enjoyable as well 👀

But then again......

Something that's still bothering me from point 2 is that he clearly was present when Xavier exposes what was done to him in his confinement so the fact that he thought the carrier was being pampered was still a little suspicious. Especially since we can see that he openly show hostility against Resoom. Not to mention the fact that he was in the resistance albeit for who knows how much shorter than the rest.  But like I said this is just my paranoid brain talking, for all we know Titania might actually be an antagonist, heck maybe Xavier is just straight up the boss of Resoom or something (alright now that's just stretching it). Well the possibility is endless any how and I however things turn out to be in the future would be I'm excited to find out.
