Howdy! I'm Cayde! I'm in highschool and I am really looking forward to participating in this game jam!! It's my first, and I wanted to join because I've always had a love for videogames (I was practically raised to be a gamer--) and hope to create my own someday! I figure this will be a great way to start!!
My absolute favorite game right now is definitely Hollow Knight (I'm so stoked for the upcoming sequel!!), but other games that hold a special place with me are Minecraft, Destiny, Rainworld, Starbound, and Undertale. Hollow Knight will definitely be a big inspiration for the game I'm going to make!
I did get to learn a bit of coding a few years back, and I'm hoping some of that information stuck so maybe I'll have some idea of what I'm doing. As for game development, I don't really have much experience other than playing around with an rpg maker a year ago. I never actually did much with it though, whoops-- Hopefully I'll be able to fix that during this game jam and get some useful experience though!
Right now, there are two main things I'm passionate about: art, and Hollow Knight. I've been drawing for as long as I can remember, and about a couple years ago, I was able to get into digital art via Clip Studio Paint! I'm constantly practicing with my art and trying to improve, and I hope to get into animation or comics as a career someday! As for Hollow Knight, it has become. An absolute hyperfixation. My adhd brain doesn't tend to be good at finishing games, let alone going for every achievement and ending, but with Hollow Knight I am trying to get everything! I'm currently going for the final ending with the Godmaster dlc, actually, and trust me when I say it is far from easy! I absolutely adore the art and music, and the story, and the lore... Honestly, I love everything aspect of it, and I could go on for. Quite a while about the game! But for the sake of being concise, I'll just end off with: I can tell the Team Cherry absolutely poured their hearts and souls into that game, and I want to do the same with mine!
My goals for this game jam are to: Get finished within the time limit, not an hour after; learn how to code better and more about game development; and to try my best! I can't wait to start! :D
