When I installed 0.5 after I played 0.4, I just installed 0.5 and didn't delete the old version and saves were there. Try installing like this and hope you should be fine.
Were you on pc? When I tried this on android my saves didnt carry over. I'm kot really all that concerned cause I plan on playing through it again, but if the saves do transfer i wouldn't mind starting now lol
I was on android. However if it will not work for you for some reason (maybe android version) you can just turn on skip for everything in settings, press the skip button and follow the walkthrough.
