I am going to ask a very dumb question… I am going to try this jam challenge, but I also wouldn’t mind reading about game play/design that is NOT about video games design. I know I stumbled across stuff like this a year ago. Need a keyword for sorting stuff on the web, please.  Or a direction. Meanwhile I will go back and look at some of the simple games I adore and back track from there. Thank you!

Thank you so much for reaching out and showing your interest in the Micro Bookmark Gamejam! No question is dumb, and we’re here to help you navigate through this exciting challenge.

While the focus of the Micro Bookmark Gamejam is indeed on creating compact and innovative games that fit on a bookmark, we understand your curiosity about game design beyond video games. You might want to explore keywords like “analog game design,” “tabletop game design,” or “board game mechanics” to find resources that delve into different aspects of game play and design.

Remember, game design principles can often transcend different types of games, so exploring various sources can certainly provide you with valuable insights and inspiration for your entry.

Feel free to immerse yourself in the simple games you adore; sometimes, the best ideas spring from unexpected places. If you have any more questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to ask. We’re here to support you on your creative journey!

Thank you! That’s a good start.  I am also thrilled to used the word ‘analog’ with games.

May I humbly recommend Vincent Baker's website, "Anyway" at http://lumpley.com/ ? The conversations there have moved to his private patreon-walled forum (which is worth  checking out if you have a few extra bucks) but there's years worth of insight on TTRPG design from an acknowledged master of the art.  The newest "article" at the top of the page is an index with highlights from the site's history categorized for rapid access.

Thank you, checking it out later today. I love resources :)
