I know, I had both of those things, but even though I played the melody multiple times, nothing happened. Either I didn't get the correct one on any of my tries (because many of the notes sound almost the same) or I somehow broke it.
you can also play after you finish the puzzle, maybe you got it right, after you play the right melody, try opening the cabnet close ro the puzzle
