I loved reading this post. There’s something really special in games that do not try to satisfy anyone but the author’s point of view and feelings, independently of the gameplay, UX or different things that are considered appealing on mainstream videogames. The way to interact physically and mentally when I go through those games feels different than just playing a game.
I tried once to develop a game to talk about trauma and I felt so exposed that I had to park it, I didn’t had the guts to continue it, because I felt bad every time I tried to deal with the dialog I was writing for it. I couldn’t even write a single word when my partner was on the same room.
But your post has motivated me to at least try it again, thank you. All the games that you recommended (including yours) seem so interesting, I think I’ll dedicate the rest of the summer to go through this list. :)
