Maybe you can use a launcher(apk) and .rpa files for androids when the file get bigger than 2 gb, some game with size more than 2 gb does that, also when updating you only have to change the rpa or add a update only patch
usually they only change the launcher on a really big update or after a few update or if there is a major system/mechanic change
