Thanks for the kind words, Sloth. I'd like to add that ability, but I'm not really sure how to do it with the limited numbers of buttons on the PICO-8 controller

If you’re in the Pico8 Discord, I would be happy to help you on this if you like. It’s a cool game so far, and I think getting that mechanic working wouldn’t be too hard.
Have you considered just shooting in the direction the character is ‘facing’?
