Nice DS reference - really cool idea to take it as a mechanic for a standalone game with theme "Darkness". And you found the perfect scope for 2 days. I like the animation of the shadows, also the other graphics are well crafted. Also the sound effects fit perfectly well.
In my plays there was a point where I wasn't able to collect any more wodd, as I had to defend the fireplace constantly. For my taste, this took half of the fun and thrill out of the game - but I have no good suggestion of how to adjust it (I assume the game is intended to become progressively harder over time, so spawning more enemies make totally sense).
