I think I get it. 9:22 has the same "pulse" visual effect but much stronger, and the character designs are, while a bit of a stretch, somewhat similar in proportions.

Actually, the effect (as well as CTC indicator in later versions) were very much inspired by those in 9:22! I think they really nailed the dizziness effect. I don’t think I managed to get close to it, I surely made a mess with image transformations,that’s for sure…but that’s at least something, isn’t it? :)
