when i get to the ancient temple it wont let me save my game anymore and it is starting to annoy me is there something im doing wrong?
I always recommend using the itch.io app.
It's pretty useful and works very well, running games without unpacking them (the problem is that itch.io doesn't allow you to upload multiple files, so you're forced and compact them).
It solves many problems with saves and compatibility, but beware: it doesn't keep your saves when you upgrade to another version so remember to make a backup before upgrading the game.
