When I first started the game, and I saw the blue man's face, I found myself trying to get the man to eat the cookie. That's what the game is about, right? The blue man is supposed to eat the cookie... yet, the cookie was not in his mouth.

As I clicked and clicked in despair, trying to get the blue man to put it in his mouth, I asked myself: "Is the game broken? Is there something wrong with the input?"

And that's when it hit me.

In our modern culture of instant gratification, where everyone expects to get their reward as soon as possible, it is difficult to imagine a piece of media that is willing to leave its audience hanging.

It is in this media landscape that this game dares to break the mold by promising instant gratification: "eat the cookie and that's it." But our expectations are subverted: he never eats it. We are left longing for something that will never come. He will never eat the cookie. It is left there, in front of him. Forever.
