Sorry to hear that!, I've been working hard to find ways for the game to run on minimal resources for older or slower hardware. Currently a patch has been released on Patreon some weeks ago and its being tested by players. It cuts the needed processing power for cutscenes by half. Hopefully these changes can help you once the next ItchIO update rolls out!
