What did this game do well?

The sound effect combines smoothly with the balloon, creates an intense feel when inflating the bomb. The mouse press input is a nice choice cause this is the most accurate one for player. So simple, yet so well done and surprisingly engaging. After the game presentation my team partner and I played it together and were competing on who could get it bigger. Great use of the single button and the high scores at the end is a good way to keep track of your progress. The leaderboards are well done and the atmosphere of a balloon going off is well done, thanks in large part to the audio。 The competitiveness of the game with the integration of the leaderboard was really good.

  • I liked the graphics. Although they were simple, it was very clear what the game was about
  • Directions were simple and easy to understand The game is very clean and minimalist in design. The instructions are very clear and the use of sound provides some feedback. The background is dynamic through moving clouds and the game incorporates a scoring system.

What could this game have done better?

The level can have more randomness in the balloon pop time. Also, a bgm or ambient sound might strengthen the game feel After getting as close as possible, I don’t think there is much else in terms of replay ability. However, I do think that in the name of minimalistic games this is not that big of an issue and more of expanding the game with more time. This game isn’t very interesting, and I think it would be nice to do something more interactive that gives the player positive feedback. Like giving the player some visual reward if the balloon doesn’t break. Perhaps have a random seed that slightly changes how long a person has to inflate the balloon. I can imagine this being cheated easily if someone gets a high score and figures out the fixed time.

  • The game could’ve been longer and more involved This game could have provided more user feedback based on the number of clicks and when the balloon actually pops rather than simply bringing up the score. For example through the use of visual effects of the balloon popping and an audio cue.
