Hmm, do you get some sort of error message? Or does it just close or show a black screen?

Error message

What does the error message say?

(1 edit)

I swear it had an error message before but now whenever it opens it says something else. If it helps I tried reading the READ ME file but my smooth brain didn’t really understand what it meant

Edit: probably important to mention, I’m running this on Steam OS, since that’s my only (good) computer. I am using the Linux version but I’m not sure if Steam OS would be messing it up.

I heard with our resident Steam OS user, who said the Itch version works for him, and that it should for you too if you:

  1. Install Windows version of D2 through itch, preferably launcher
  2. Add Game.exe to steam with right click
  3. In steam in gaming mode, open the game properties for Game.exe and under compatibility force use of Proton, any recent version should work
  4. Run the game through Steam

Hope this helps!

I’ll give it a shot! Do I have access to the download links still or would I need to buy access again?

If you bought the game using this account, then you should be able to find the download link both on the store page and in your game library here. By logging into your account in the Itch launcher app you should be able to download the game through the app as well. If you bought the game without an Itch account, then you still used an email address and was sent a download link you can still access, and have it resent if you lost the email (https://itch.io/docs/buying/already-bought

Either way you don't need to buy the game again :)

Cool! Thank you for the help!

hey, I forgot to cancel my Itch support email and they said that they’re refunding it. Should I buy a second copy of the game to give it back or…?

I suppose that is up to you. We can't really get involved in the refunding process unless Itch support reaches out to us first. If you did get it to work through the steps I mentioned and want to keep access to downloading the game, but you still get it refunded because of the initial refund request, then I'm guessing you'd have to buy it again if you want to keep the game (which could be nice if you're interested in downloading it again later, or if you want access to the big upcoming update we have scheduled for June).
