Try talking to people so they'll notice you and check out your games, and promote your games outside itch.io so you'll get more traffic from other sources. Definitely don't spam.
Which section of the homepage? If you mean featured games, those are hand-picked by staff. Make a good game, with a nice game-page, and it might be selected.
