sure! I make the shapes using a combination of mostly the pen, pathfinder, marquee and ellipse tools. Colours are chosen based on a good understanding of colour theory, and since they need to be readable at a small size, I make sure there's lots of contrast between important sections. Then the outline is done with an Offset Path :)
