Hi! I need help.

I've been playing the game for almost a week now and my laptop handled it fine. But a few hours ago, it crashed. Whenever I open it, it shows me the loading screen and after that, it crashes. "Not responding", black screen.

I reinstalled it a few times and it's still like that. I open the game, it loads, then it doesn't respond.

I'm assuming it's because I kept changing the keybinds and I may have screwed up the files because of that

(Context, my friends play the game on my laptop so I have to change them every time because they have their way of playing it.) But I might be wrong because, how would changing the keybinds make a game crash?

Also, my laptop has,, Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 and 8 gb ram so I don't think it's because of my laptop. Thanks in advance!

The game has been revealed to be a crypto miner lol... delete immediately and you also should take some action on your pc to get rid of the miner

It's probably the Keybindings. This also happened to me when I changed the key to DFJK without realizing F was already bound to Fullscreen. It really seemed to hate having a key binded to two things and did basically exactly what's happening to you as a result.

If you wait like 10 mins it SHOULD get past the initial not responding thing and actually start and maybe you can fix the key bindings from there. If not then go into Appdata/Roaming/FunkinCrew and move Funkin1.sol out of the folder(basically your save data and config stuff) and the game should start. You might be able to move it back in after that and change but for me I just deleted it and dealt with erasing my high scores.

I actually got past the 10-minute thing earlier to change it but it still crashed lmao :')) so I just deleted the file as you said and it loaded in!!

I had a very very similar experience to you and was equally baffled that I somehow broke the game changing keybinding.

The devs really need to put a failsafe to prevent that issue. Or at least make the config file something separate from save data and editable with notepad like a lot of games do. So you can fix the issue without deleting all your progress.

I hope that happens because it felt upsetting to lose all my progress (Still, it was worth it.)

If enough people get this same problem we went through maybe they would, although I don't wish the other players to actually experience this lmao it's awful
