My only other option is downloading MtE on my PC which is really sketchy because it's a shared computer and the hard drive is on its last legs.

I had to change the filename of the .app to just "MtE.app" to get it to work (I was getting a "file not found" error before doing that). Also at the "chmod a+x" step, I gave it the full path and not just the filename and that did the trick! (duped from another reply but I feel obligated)
