how rude! lol

Let them make whatever the hell game they want to, eh? If it doesn't appeal to you, simply go find something else that does. Not everyone wants just a rehash of the same stuff.  Character and plot development is more important if the goal is to actually have people engaged and invested in what you're creating.

RedMyst, I applaud you for putting so much effort into crafting your story. Sorry if not everyone appreciates it, but don't let that get you discouraged. And although, as of yet have not tried your game, I'm now inspired to do just that! Keep on, keepin' on!

You have a point, but not entirely. I wrote that comment two months ago, and my thoughts were different back then. I didn’t appreciate ‘slow burn’ games back then and wasn’t familiar with terms like ‘blue balling’ - “slow burn” etc. I used to think these games were a waste of time which is why I commented like that, but now i’ve come to appreciate their depth.

However, I still disagree with the notion that character and plot development are more important than including adult content. You can effectively integrate adult elements without compromising the story’s engagement and character development. Critiques like mine reflect personal taste; many people criticize media that doesn’t align with their preferences, leading to subjective reviews. Over time, I’ve learned to be more objective in my critiques.

Speaking of your last paragraph is so cringe and totally unnecessary. The creator isn’t a child. If they’re that easily affected by every kind of criticism, they shouldn’t be sharing content publicly to millions. I get you felt the need to defend because the creator seemed ‘victimized’ by my critique, and people usually want to side with the underdog, but what you’re doing is childish and overly emotional. It seems like you defended the creator without even trying the game, feels fake and off-putting. I had at least played it before making my comments.

Additionally, for ‘Adult Visual Novels,’ it’s natural for people to expect some adult content early on. If a game is a slow burn, this should be clearly stated in the description to manage expectations. The presence of a ‘planned fetish’ list like ‘vaginal sex,’ suggests that adult content is expected to be added towards the end of the game. Even in ‘slow burn’ games, at least some content like handjobs or blowjobs are mostly provided early on to keep the player’s interest. After all, we’re playing ‘Adult Visual Novel,’ not just ‘Visual Novel,’ for a reason my dude. If there’s no adult content, there’s no need for the ‘Adult’ tag. Seeing games that have been developed for two years and still haven’t added adult content makes me think I’m still right about this.

Who are you, the Roger Ebert of AVNs? LOL

It's not fake because I made a comment before playing the game. I'm not commenting on the game (that's why i mentioned i hadn't played it!) and I'm not defending an underdog, I'm respecting a person's right to create as they see fit, without complaining about it. There's a hell of a lot involved in making games, especially if you don't have a team.  You likely got the game for free and still write a novel to complain about it? I read comments before playing anything to determine whether  games are still works in progress, or abandoned. With there being so many abandoned games, I find it far more helpful to be positive, supportive and encouraging to the developer(s), than to bash them.   A "critique" is meant to point out what's wrong with something. You seemed to be saying you were unhappy because you didn't get to see this or he didn't do this, that and the other when you wanted him to. That's just personal complaining. That could have been summarized into something to the effect of "played the game, it was okay but feel improvements could be made." Or just rated the game. Moreover, it's the Dev's vision, who can say anything is wrong with it other than them? If the Dev wanted it to be full on AC from the start, that's the way the Dev would have made it.

To SOME people, obviously not you, the storytelling is just as important to get the players invested in it. That's the only other thing I was pointing out. Not everyone has the need you seem to be expressing for AC at every second. I personally don't care about AC at all. I'm looking for other things (development-wise, as I have a lot of huge projects coming up and will be using a similar engine for a backstory series) YES I am a developer. Not of AC games no, but a developer nonetheless. So I'll just chock it up to a different point-of-view, leading to a difference of opinion and leave it at that.

The part "it doesn't excite our brains properly" made me laugh. That's funny...and kinda weird.

Sorry for the back & forth (speaking to the Dev)  Time to give it a play-through!

I laughed twice at your comment, first because the “Roger Ebert of AVNs” joke was funny but i didn’t get the relevance tho. Look, you don’t understand i called it “fake” because you praised the game without playing it. You said “i applaud you for putting so much effort into crafting your story.” but before that you also said “as of yet have not tried your game” indicating you hadn’t played it. Dude, how can you praise the story if you haven’t played it? That’s what i was talking about, i don’t get why you’re so defensive on that. Maybe if you play, you won’t like it how do you even talk about it?

You’re right, making a game involves a lot of work. I agree with that but the “you likely got the game for free and still write a novel to complain about it?” part is nonsense because do i need to pay to criticize? LMAO “i find it far more helpful to be positive, supportive and encouraging to the developer(s)” yeah that’s your view, your opinion. I pointed out that i didn’t like the slow pace and lack of adult content. If someone reading my comment feels the same, they’ll know before playing. “bash them” does it look like i bashed the dev from there?

“that’s just personal complaining.” you think it’s personal complaining. I dropped a feedback because i didn’t find what i was expecting in the game. We aren’t robots or AI; people will criticize if a game, movie, or any media doesn’t meet their expectations. People do this all the time maybe in your utopian Alice Wonderland 1984 world, people critique differently, but welcome to the real world, this is how it works here. We are all free to cricitize and you are free to like it or not. But i agree on constructive criticism as i believe mine was in that category.

“that could have been summarized into something to the effect of ‘played the game, it was okay but feel improvements could be made.’” dude, that’s not what i wanted to say why are you forcing me to be positive? What’s with this toxic positivity? Do you live in the American dream? What kind of mindset is that, simply i didn’t like the game. I think the slow pacing and lack of adult content were overkill, and since it’s presented as an AVN, i criticized it accordingly. You’re setting conditions like “you can only comment if you praise the developer or keep it short.” dude, this isn’t anyone’s private site. As long as i’m respectful, i can critique however i want. I agree with constructive criticism, and i think my feedback was constructive. You might not understand or agree, but i don’t yap about your views or the game at all. If you read carefully, you’ll see i try to empathize and understand your perspective.

“the storytelling is just as important to get the players invested in it.” okay dude, that’s what i’m saying too. put in some adult content while also focusing on character development and advancing the story. That’s the essence of an AVN. “i personally don’t care about AC at all.” dude, stop fooling yourself. Then why not go play regular VN? Why are you in the Erotic Adult section? We’re here for the pleasure combined with good story and stuff. “i’m looking for other things” yeah, me too, but AC is needed, that’s why we play AVNs. AVNs and VNs are different for that reason. That’s why this is AVN and that’s VN.

“yes i am a developer. not of AC games no, but a developer nonetheless.” i don’t mean to be rude, but i didn’t ask if you’re a developer or not. “the part ‘it doesn’t excite our brains properly’ made me laugh. that’s funny… and kinda weird.” if you find that weird, what are you doing with an AVN game tagged with “adult,” “erotic,” “fantasy,” “nsfw,” and “violent”? Are you looking for existential material to write a literature book on? I find that pretty weird and funny as well. If you, as a game developer, can comment on someone else’s comment to say “keep it short, don’t talk too long, talk positive or don’t talk at all” then i think you’ll probably close the comments section on your own games. You’re thinking very wrongly, have a very closed and utopian mindset.

LOL I'm not reading all that! That's too much of a bother  -the point of this comments section should be regarding the game and Dev, not myself. And oobviously, everything else pops up on a generic search and only tagging the OS and free, so i just click on ones where it looks like the rendering is good or might have a story worth hearing about. I don't care about AC, If it moves the story along in some way then great! But it's not a driving force for everyone. That was my point.

With the positive comments I read, it seems for the most part that people are pleased with the game so far and have something to look forward to. I know  how difficult it can be first hand and That is why I commented that I support them in the effort. I'd say so for any of Dev. Don't need to play the game first  before I can. It's a comment about effort, not the game itself. I hadn't played it yet; I said so myself from the beginning. I dunno why you seem to take issue with my basically wishing him success. Then again, I don't really care.  "Quit hatin' my dude!" LOL Now there's childish for ya. I'm done commenting, period.

I mentioned the things you said above, but if you’re going to throw LOL LOL LOL emojis while making a face like Steve from Minecraft, not gonna bother reading past your first sentence. And you keep repeating the same things makes me suspect you get an orgasm every time you hear the word ‘Dev.’ I explained everything you said, and as i mentioned in the last sentence, you’ve created 300 utopian worlds in your head and you’re living in them. You have a head thicker and more closed-off than a brick lmfao
