I really liked your experience and idea. My suggestion would be to take the background music away and just add some nature ambeo. The nice SFX from the cannon and flying cannon balls are widely enough to make this a satisfying experience. You can rely on your hearing much more and also feel the BIGBANG more. Also the bang from your enemy.
