Why are the chess options so inconsistent on labelling pattern?

(way late to the party) - the chess labeling, as far as i could tell is always correct. It has the piece name (Bishop, kNight, Rook, King (no letters ever for pawns), the row/column the piece is on (assuming its counterpart could also move there), and then the space it moves to. 

so you would only see something like R8b5 if both rooks were on the "b' file (ex Rook 1 is on b8 and the other is on b1)

That is how chess notation works also if is says something like Rxb5 that means that means Rook takes the piece on b5
