Hey there, thanks for the encouraging words!

The generation actually uses prefabs. Each have an arbitrary number of doorways which can have any orientation, so when it looks 45-degree-ish, it's because I only bothered to build rooms with 90 and 45 degree doorways. More angles coming once I sort out the building process.

Hello all -

I've had a week full of other work, but have been dinking with a 7dfps thingy. The idea is to learn a bit and try out a few things rather than an amazing game idea. Here's a level generating:


So far I have:

  • Generating level from prefabs
  • Deterministic generation when using the same seed
  • SabreCSG for building the prefabs
  • Custom FPS player controller (a little wonky here and there)
  • Entity system with 2D/Doom sprites
  • Sprites drawn w/ billboard and animation sorted out entirely in shader
  • "Look-frobbing", see gif below


Maybe I want to place some mystery clues or NPCs in the level? I dunno where this is going.

Hey there!

First off, thanks for creating what looks like a fun, well-put-together project! I especially like that cross-platform considerations have been thought about and built in from the start. Very cool!

I was looking forward to doing some creating on my little Android setup. I use a wireless BT keyboard and an OTG mouse, so it's almost like a micro laptop.

The issue I have is the following: TIC-80 starts up fine, I can load carts and run them. The issue is that when I exit from running, I can't type anything, either on the physical or virtual keyboard. I can use the arrow keys, escape/back, and return, both at the prompt and in "UI mode". Reactivating keyboard requires killing the app and restarting. It seems like "gamepad mode" is never properly exited, or something?

In any case, hope this pseudo-bug-report helps, and thanks again for your work!

Whoops, didn't mean to kill the thread ;)

Seems I didn't get far at all, have been reinventing a few wheels and making... Punky art stuff. I'm going to keep plugging on some of this.

It moves kinda nicely. Next: Text shenanigans.

ETA: You can kinda see that one of the ethical problems you can roll is "Dealing with post-scarcity."

I signed up for this specifically, but haven't had the time I'd have liked this month. Right now I have a little framework in Unity going, branching between scenes etc.

My day job is game development (on the art side), so for this I want to do something w/ light coding, and something more punky than I get to do at work.

Let's see how far I get.
