i didn't mean to come off as harsh, so sorry! the game's art style is really charming to me, and given the short time frame it's very impressive! it was a very fun game to try, and it's a very unique game. good work!

very very very cute art with baseline RPG mechanics!
gameplay -- standard RPG, can't go wrong. bonus points for funny dialogue (slipper cat, persistent door, etc.)
music -- an original soundtrack of decent length! couldn't quite groove, but it's cool to have that originality
art -- yes yes yes i love the art in this game so much
theme -- malenrost is a tower in the game 👍
originality -- funny dialogue but lackluster combat and level design (aside from the art, which is awesome
very well worth my 20 minutes of trying it out!
heavily undertale-inspired walk-through story experience. cool narrative that tries to touch on deeper topics, but is cut a little short due to being a game jam (understandably)
gameplay - i scored this higher due to having lots of dialogue that was good to read, but the gameplay itself is lackluster. walk through rooms and press the next button
music - there is music, but it's just the undertale soundtrack
contrary to the narrator's belief, this IS in fact a one bit game! so good job with that
game had me hooked from its charming art style and music, it was fun to give it a shot!
gameplay -- my fuel seems to be constantly depleting even when braking and staying still - not sure if bug or if i'm doing something wrong? can't accelerate anymore after fuel depletes, so uphill/level ground sections become impossible
music -- there is music, and it's pretty charming until it loops for around 10 minutes. could use some more variety, but i like the premise of the sound design
art -- love the pixely-rotoscoped kinda feel the graphics have.
theme -- a little weak, as it seems the tower could've been any other object and the game would've still worked.
originality -- don't remember ever playing a game like this!
and yeah the game is 1 bit
like shovel knight, but with an awesome silly little guy instead
not sure how much playtesting was done or if there's a button i'm missing, but i tried levels 1, 4, and 5 for about 10 minutes each and wasn't able to beat any of them due to one or two jumps that seemed impossible after trying from multiple angles. level 5 also appears to be blank, but like, game jam so fair enough. cool concept, controls felt really good after a while!
