Actually had a fail safe in to prevent that, but it wasn't on,   Thanks for spotting that.

Thanks for that, I found the issue, It was supposed to be a turn in for a random drop from the crabs, exp was linked to the wrong variable and thanks to it I found that all of the turn ins had a bug with them.

I am trying to make it so that upon starting the game the player immediately has the first node unlocked for their skill tree,  gaining the bonuses without needing to enter the menu and manually select it. 

I am currently looking into how I could possibly make it so that I can use a script call/command to unlock a node manually.  Is there any way to do this currently or are there any plans to make it possible?
