I like the pitch bending organ thing. I also like the evolution of the track, how it changes tempo and mood. It sounds quiet though, I don't know how to say it.

I liked the second track, it sounds very eerie and lonely with the square keys. I would have liked it more if there were more synths, the violin could be replaced, but that's just me. The kick at "fight for it" sounds too weak and bland compared to the other instruments, but I like the atmosphere. Some instruments at the final track could also be better mixed, I can't hear some of them very well. Overall I liked the progression of the tracks.
I really enjoyed the first track, the bass, the ambient sounds, the drums and the bitcrushed noise at the second half. It feels so dreamy. I really love the ambient tracks, it's very well mixed and filled with detail, like the wobbly synth in "Open Space". The second half is on par, maybe even better, the faint chords and the chiptuney lead is chef's kiss. Overall veery good.
The flute is a bit too loud on the first track, the strings could be more vivid, they feel too robotic for me, but besides these it was still good. I like the nature of the second track, however sometimes the drums are a bit too jarring. Overall, the mixing and the instrument choices could be better (the drums on the final track), but the tracks convey well their emotions well and the soundtrack is well composed, en gros c'est pas mal du tout.
One of the rare submissions that stay minimalistic, which is nice. This of course fits well in a management sim kind of game: it's cozy and calm. Both the tracks are well made, they remind me of the new Minecraft menu tracks made by Lena Raine, especially the second one. Could be a bit more layered, but this is still nice.
I like the bass on the intro, the lead saw could be a bit lowered in volume in my opinion. The delayed synth is also cool, a bit loud though.
The second track reminds me of Ace Attorney, more precisely the sections just before a trial, so you really succeeded on the atmosphere. Calm, but still a bit tense and mysterious.
The final track borrows some instruments from the opener, which is a nice touch to keep the tracks related. It could be more emotional though, If I wasn't reading the descriptions of the tracks I would assume that this one plays during a normal part of the game instead of an important section.
Good job!
This is the best feedback I've got, really thank you for that also the fact that you actually listened to my other submission lol. Thanks for the compliment about the production!
I tend to use the same key and the same chords (Dmin and Gmin) even if I try to stay away from using the same thing over and over again. I focused more on the sound design on "scentofthesun" and less on the feelings I searched to evoke. I wanted to make a final track with drums so that the submission wouldn't be too boring, while I was messing around with the synth I stumbled upon something I really loved so I built upon it, made the intro, drums, effects, end, and boom, done. The track does give the feeling of hope for me, personally. I could have put more time on the chord progression and the overall composition.
I'm personally not that proud of my post.mortem submission since I always strive to make my best sound design and dynamic music as possible and find that this isn't the most sonically interesting for me.
Pleased to know that your fav track is "Saving your life", I'm proud of the wobbling bass for example, but I find that the breakbeat could be more dynamic with more effects. It's one of the tracks on the submission that I'm the most proud of, along with "Waking Up" and "Going Places" (I also find this to be too "simple").
You're very right about the palette, literally 90% of the instruments I used were synths and synth drumkits and a good two thirds of the synths are made on the same Helm VST. I was even a bit intimidated to put the guitar on "crackles" because I thought that it could make the track feel more generic. I tend to stay away from acoustic sounding instruments (and when I do, I heavily process them) because then I feel like that the music becomes less original and more distant from the synth sounds that I personally like. I prefer to make my own sounds, when I use acoustic I feel like I'm a bit cheating. Also since I tend to try to imitate the artists I like the most, that being electronic and ambient artists. You've opened up my mind though, I will try to expand my capabilities by trying other things.
It's pleasing to hear something made using a tracker (I use them too mainly openMPT and famitracker). The first track was so relaxing, I wouldn't mind if it was longer. You nailed the 16-bit nature with the transposed pads and the low-bit samples. The second track is a little uneasy and disharmonious, it's still a bit groovy but the drums could have been more present, I still enjoyed it though.
Cool, a Burial enjoyer! I can hear that the first track is inspired by him with the stoney drums.
The second track is too weird, the melody seems too random at times but I liked the delayed saw keys.
I like the acid bass and the filters on "T H E R I O T", I wish the drums were punchier and more engaging.
The melody on the first track was a bit redundant for me. I got jumpscared by the sudden explosion of volume on the switch to "Screw Him!", I think it's my fav track here though, I like the orchestral nature of it. I also like the use of field recordings on this and things like phone beeps and discord notif sounds. You did accomplish to convey a story by itself, that's great. Every track has it's own personality.
The piano is too loud on "Onward", but I liked the bassline.
I like the sidechaining on the second track, it's overall very nicely done, love the melodies and the arpeggios, it's my fav track.
The mixing is still a bit rusty honestly, some instruments could be a bit quieter and panned around (delays can turn melodies into something from an another word). I like slight detail on the reverb that gets louder on the closer. Also nice thing to have a leitmotif, it's the first time I noticed one in this jam. The last two tracks drags on for a bit too long for me, but I don't think I'll have a problem hearing this on a video game.
Overall the ideas are great, I would have liked it more if the instrumentation were more varied and the mixing were better. Still, good job!
I love the electronic nature of this, you really accomplished the ambience by putting tiny details in the sound design. I love the slight distortion of the piano (I adore distorted filters with resonance), the sudden change of tone at 1:21 is nicely done to keep the track interesting. The bitcrushed noisy percussion that slowly changes in cutoff is also good. I feel like our music is similar since I also use synths very often. Only downside I can find is that the strings sound a bit bland and "cliché". I wish you had more time for the submission honestly, if you managed to make this in only 3 HOURS.
I love the synths on this, especially the agressive basses, I have to learn how to make those. I could definitely hear this in a fast-paced FPS, makes you very pumped up. Cool that you use Vital and kHs quite often! (I mostly use Helm instead which is kinda the predecessor of Vital made by the same guy). The second half of VILE is FIRE, gives me ULTRAKILL vibes with that amen break and the bass that goes baw baw. VANGUARD is too extreme in my opinion (I think it's gabber?) , even though I liked the hi hat panning around.
YEEES that's exactly what I was aiming for! I put a bunch of effects and subtle changes to make the tracks feel more dynamic and more atmospheric. Bitcrushing just adds something I can't describe to sounds, it makes it sound soo good. I didn't really touch on the guitar that much to make it kinda more "hynotizing", if the noted changed I thought it could be disorienting.
(no surprise that you don't like mainstream services since you use linux (don't worry I use linux too (even if I use Windows when I make music because making music on linux is a hellhole)))
The first track dragged on for too long honestly, it could be cut down to half it's time. I liked Dystopia's bass, but there are also some parts where it's a bit too abrasive for me. I liked the panning on "Underground". Still, the soundtrack is quite original since it's "real" chiptune, which is nice.
This is a very complete soundtrack, there's even a network theme. I liked the different ideas that were brought up, like the breakcore rock piano fusion thing that is "Get Us Outta Here!". I found the second track to be a bit too obnoxious honestly, it was loud. Still, very creative and quite nice, I liked it!
