You won't be able to directly import your save data due to the sequel using a different engine, but you'll be able to set the world state based on your previous choices.

Hi! Sorry, you can't import saves from the demo. Since they have different source files, the engine sees them as two different games.

Yes, the itch.io app's current behavior is to "install" an HTML5 game. Not to cache it. Not to launch it in browser.

It downloads the contents of the ZIP. You can try yourself by navigating to any HTML5 game from within the itch.io app and "installing" it.

Hello,

As of now, when a game meant to be played in the browser is accessed through the itch.io app, all of the game files and assets are instead downloaded to the player's computer.

Is there any way to prevent this?

Hello! The full game is divided in 24 chapters. The demo ends with the 11th chapter.

Edit: I'll add this here since I get this kind of question semi-frequently: I purposefully decided to have a long, free demo available, in essence giving away almost half the game for free, so that you can get a very clear idea of what the full game is about.

If you enjoy the demo, you can be sure you'll enjoy the full game, and vice versa.

Hi! I tried to run your game but got this error message: "Permission denied to access property "cside" on cross-origin object", which stops me from proceeding past the "Praise" screen.

Hello! Yes, it is SugarCube.

Hello, the "browser version" is a demo.

I am looking into publishing it on the AppStore, but it probably won't happen before beginning of next year :)

Adding the game to new storefronts means managing updates, taxes, and other things across multiple platforms.

Is there a particular reason you'd prefer to buy on itch.io?

Hello! The full game is available on:

Unfortunately, it is not really possible to sell web-based games through itch.io (except in a roundabout way that I don't even think would work on iPhones/iPads). If I were to sell through itch.io, it would be the same executable that you'd get through Steam (ie. meant to work on a PC or a Mac).

I might release an Apple Store version later this year, but for the moment, there is no version of the full game that would work on iPhones/iPads :(

Hi!
I am working on a sequel, yes. There is a playable demo available but bear in mind it is very early-stage which is why it is locked behind a password. You can try it via my blog (the password is in the linked post).

If you want to keep up with the game's development, you can follow my blog, though I know not everyone has or wants to have a Tumblr account; I'll probably be setting up a newsletter by the end of the year.

Thanks for playing Arcadie: Second-Born by the way, I hope you'll enjoy the sequel! ;)

Hello! Yes, there are four potential love interests.

Hello, you can save your progress without issue on either versions (Steam or Android).

The "Save to Disk" option is an additional, separate save option that allows to save anywhere on the drive on PC/macOS, it seems to sometimes malfunction on mobile.

As for sales on the Play Store, they are a bit cumbersome to set up as I have to manually set a new price for each country where the game is available (100+), so I don't do them often (maybe once a year).

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the game :)

Hello!

Arcadie: Second-Born was written as a standalone, but I have started working on a sequel. If you like, you can follow my progress on my blog.

Hello and thank you! :)

I don't plan on publishing the game on the App Store for the time being (I'd need to purchase a Mac, among other drawbacks).

Thank you so much! Good luck with your novel! :)

I'm not sure how to answer that, to be honest. It varies depending on the choices you make, the path you take, your reading speed, whether you take your time or fly through it...

It isn't the longest of games, though, if that's what you're asking. I wanted to tell a tightly paced story, with no fluff or extraneous subplots. Only you can tell if that would be to your taste or not.

Hello,

The demo contains abount 30% of the full game's word count.

Hello, the full version is available on Steam and Google Play.

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.arcadieutopie.arcadiesecondbor...

If I were to release the full game on itch.io, it'd be the same version that's currently on Steam (for PC and Mac computers).

Hi there, the dinner with Cyril is different depending whether they consider it a date or not. The platonic version is shorter.

Otherwise, most of the content in the romantic version is still there, except for the question about whether the age difference bothers the MC.

Hi, I replied to you on Tumblr, thanks again for letting me know.
I'll see if it can be fixed, otherwise I'll have to remove the option to save to disk.

That's strange, the blank window thing happens either on old Windows versions or if your anti virus decides to block the game. Have you tried uninstalling, restarting your PC, then reinstalling? Disable your anti virus to be safe.

If it still doesn't work, please ask for a refund through Steam.

Hello! No, not yet. Merry Christmas in advance :)

Sorry, I'm deleting your comment because it's a pretty big spoiler for people who haven't played the full game. But to answer your question: no.

Thank you so much! I hope you'll enjoy the full release! :)

Hi, there will be no further updates to the demo, the full game will be available on December 9th on Steam.

Thanks for the bug report, I've just updated the demo in preparation for the full release ;)

Super clear; thank you so much!

Thank you so much for the thorough bug report!

Would you be interested in being a beta tester for the full game, by any chance? ;)

Thank you for letting me know! I will fix it.
