The road is made of long sprites too, like a super scaler arcade racer like Super Chase. The ground plane is done with a mode-7 esque effect, and the environment is a mix of parallax and more sprites. I don't think I've seen anything yet that is using a 3d polygon.

Absolutely loving this game! And very happy to buy in itch so you guys can get a bigger cut than steam. Two technical points:
1: For the Linux users reading this, YES it runs great in Wine, flawless performance on my i3 and controllers work out of the box.
2: For the dev team, thank you so much for Tate at 1x resolution, it will make running this on CRT great. However, sprite scaling for the menu text can make it difficult to read at that resolution. Is this only fixable by going to a higher internal resolution? I would love to run this 240p instead of 480i on my CRT, and I will gladly tolerate the menu looking a bit off, but was wondering if I'm just missing an option I could switch to fix it. Thanks!
