Good catch! Thank you for pointing this out. I'll be updating the file shortly. Please let me know if you spot anything else that may have slipped by me!

Welcome to the Monster Guts community! If you're looking to expand your Monster Guts game, I and other third-party creators have made some fun content for the game, such as new monsters, weapons, and adventures.
WWWP features a lot of them on her/their page here: https://dubdubpub.itch.io/
And here's where you can find all of my content (most of which is free!): https://arkhadtoa.itch.io/
Happy hunting!
Hey there, I just wanted to let you know that I've decided to finally move ahead with publishing one of the supplements I mentioned. Check it out here: https://arkhadtoa.itch.io/best-laid-plans
Just wanted to let you know that Volume Four: Master Rank is now live! Thank you for all your patience!
Just wanted to let you know that Volume Four: Master Rank is now live! Thank you for all your patience!
Thank you very much! I'm so glad that you are enjoying these. It really helps keep up my enthusiasm for continuing the project.
I am indeed working on other volumes (amid other projects)!
Volume Four will be Master Rank, featuring some very dangerous monsters that can hold their own against Elder Dragons, such as Ahtal-Ka, Espinas, and Brachydios. It will also have rules adapting the slinger/clutch claw (World/Iceborne), wirebugs and switch skills (Rise/Sunbreak), and Hunter Arts (Generations Ultimate) to the Monster Guts rules set.
After that, Volume Five will be the full roster of Elder Dragons from the mainline games (not including any variant forms, such as Risen Elder Dragons).
There may be some future volumes after that as well, depending on how much time and energy I can devote to the project.
I appreciate your patience as I work on these. I really love the MH franchise, and I want to make sure I get these monsters right in these supplements.
Ran this for my wife last week, and we had an absolute blast. Her character is an elf warlock, and so was immediately kicked out of the town, and she sided with Sigwin pretty quickly. It's such a great premise, and the tight layout with tons of inspirational tables made it so easy to run as a GM. Excellent work!
I definitely understand! I've been in that spot plenty of times myself. I've added a few more community copies.
I had the same thought about the longevity of a Monster Guts game, which is why I developed Medara Village in the first place. If you haven't already, check out some of my other MG supplements to add more options for monsters and scenarios to your campaign! Most of them are free, too.
Let me know how your game goes! I'm always happy to try to answer any questions you might have.
I'm excited to make something that's Guided by Firelights!
The idea of mine I like the most at the moment is that the player is an agent of an interstellar nation who has vital information to destroying an enemy superweapon. However, they get stuck in an ancient, massive space station that prevents FTL travel in the region, so they have to shut down all the dampeners to be able to escape and save their nation. Sort of Star Wars meets Metroid, but with a bit of a Hyper-Light Drifter vibe.
I just discovered this jam, and Paranormal, Inc., and wanted to hop in! I'm hoping that I'll be able to get my mystery done on time, but there's a good chance I can do it. I'm really having to change up my usual mindset of coming up with a culprit/cause first, so that the players can come up with their own solutions, but I'm liking the creative freedom that allows in the roleplay!
I'm still in the brainstorming phase, but I am planning on starting writing very soon. I'll probably start by making up a cover page once I settle on an idea; that always inspires me to keep working when I start to lose focus.
Just following up on this; I have published this Monster Hunter supplement here: https://arkhadtoa.itch.io/threats-from-another-world-vol-1-prey-dromes
If it would interest anyone, I just released an adventure module for MONSTER GUTS! You can find it here: https://arkhadtoa.itch.io/the-red-plague
Other projects are in the works as well, and should be published soon!
If it would at all interest you, I am in the late stages of producing a Monster Hunter supplement for MONSTER GUTS. It would adapt all the small monsters to fit the "Small Beast" role, as well as adapting any large monsters that grow from a smaller monster. I'm hoping to be able to share it (for free, of course) in the next few weeks.
Due to the massive size of just that content, it's going to be the first in a series that adapts all the monsters from the main MH series to MONSTER GUTS. The first volume won't add wirebugs, slingers, or other things like that, but I'm hoping to add those later.
Hello again! I had two more questions for you:
- At your table, how do you handle dice-rolling in social encounters outside of a Hunt (in the village, or wherever else that isn't part of fighting monsters)?
- Can you share any insights into the rules you had envisioned for fighting kaiju-sized monsters (like Godzilla or Zorah Magdaros), or are you saving those for a later release?
I know it's been a while, but I have been so inspired that this game has taken over my head space for over a month now. Just a couple days ago, I published a couple of supplements for it! Let me know if you would like a preview copy of the first one!

Thank you again for putting together such a great game!
I am so glad that it has been helpful for you! It makes me happy that you are finding use in it.
I was working on another supplement or two, but recently, Blackoath Games sold the rights for Seekers to Exalted Funeral, and I have been waiting to see if the Open Gaming License is still valid with EF. No word so far, so unfortunately, all my projects for Seekers are suspended until they give a definitive answer :(
I'm glad it hasn't been too annoying! I played this with my wife over the weekend, and she really enjoyed it too. I really appreciate you taking the time to help answer my questions.
A few more rules questions came up during our recent play session; I hope I won't bother you if I keep asking. I have some idea of how they might work, but I like collaborating on finding answers. I'll ask them below:
- How is Harm inflicted calculated for the War Bugle? Is it based off of current Melody (such as with Edge for other melee weapons), or does it have a fixed damage like ranged weapons, or something else?
- If a special weapon move doesn't have a listed Harm, does it inflict Harm equal to the current Edge, like a regular attack, but with any modifiers listed in the text of the move? (for example, Greatsword's Whirlwind move)
- When spending Edge to use a special move, is the cost deducted before or after the move occurs? This question came up when my wife used the Charged Swing on a greatsword, but was confused by the wording; if it deals double the current Edge, then she would only deal 4 damage after spending 2 Edge to use the move, which would be equivalent to a normal swing at maximum Edge.
- If you fill up a monster's Stun clock and it is stunned for its turn, do you skip the Tempo Change entirely, or just prevent any attacks it would have used?
