Hey, thanks for playing. I made this for a web development course using HTML and JavaScript, so if you don't have any experience with programming, learning would be one place to start. If you'd like you can download the .zip for this game to take a look at the project files - open them with Notepad to see what the scripts look like and how they tie together (the file for the main game is named index.html).
However, if you don't want to get into learning how to program, you can also make narratives like this one using Twine. It's much easier and faster to learn and play around with, and it's a great way to get started with projects like this. My two other projects (Hypertext Rain and A Mournstead Murder) were made with Twine, if you want to see how it compares to this one.
