just 4 players ai.  no idea I could even have that many playing.  I've only started like 3 or 4 games on it.. I'm not that great on computer stuff although I can downlaod games and etc. but troubleshooting and trying to delete.  when I deleted or thought I had, and reloaded it, I was able to pull up onld games, which tells me that files have been left on computer.  if those are corrupted somehow...  but just frustrated.  I am ann old school turn based strategy game player and this game is right up my alley more than any other.  any other ideas  thanks for the response.

Hi, I have posted before about this issue.  

I keep getting this at about 150 or so turns into the game.  tried to play several games now, keeps happening.  Says I must check the latest log where the data files are stored.  What am I checking for?   Found a bunch of folders.  No idea what to do from that point,  I have deleted and reloaded the game twice.  what is causing this?  I can't play.  I did create a ground attack plane and modify an AT to move 3 instead of two.

I got one response from wweasel.  I did post back.  I've deleted and reloaded game but same thing keeps happening.  So I've paid for a game I can't play.  I play the tablet version but it is small potatoes when I want to play the latest version with all the diff things you can do.  I don't want a refund.  I want the game to work! I love everything it brings to the table!  I've been playing since late 1990's.

Well, an honor to meet you truly.  Have read you in past forums with your discussion of various additions you've made to the game over the years.  First, I am a dinosaur and not particularly techy.   I have no idea or desire to try modifying anything even though I had bought EDIE in the past with that thought.  Seemed too easy to make a mistake changing coding or parameters to someone not trained in this stuff.  Why I was so excited to get this new version years later. (I started playing back in 95  or so).  So, No modes, no modifying script files.  Just used the edit program to make the air transport move 3 spaces and experimented with a ground attack aircraft variation.  Those worked great.  I did try to make a hydrolectric power plant to use as an energy source like oil for engineers or seabees to build but that didn't work.  But when that game with the modified units crashed, I went back to the old saved game with standard units, and it crashed also. Then looking for the game on the computer for those "data files" using search or the empire game seems to take me back to the itch.io place, when I expected it to be on the computer.  I can find other games I've downloaded to get into their files but not Empire.  So I thought this version is only playable through the internet although I wanted to be able to play off line...and you see my ignorance abounds in multiple areas.  But I haven't been able to play it since.  Went back to playing edie on an older legacy computer out of frustration that I still have a cd for from over 10 years ago or more.  No response on here, didn't know where else to ask, hated to ask Mok himself on the killer Bee site preschool level questions, just wanted to find a forum. and this was the only one for combined ed.  I did delete and re download it and it happened again, and I just didn't know what to do further.

If you can point me to a forum more active than this-really I just want a flash drive with the game on it-seems simpler to me. But right now, paid for a game I can't play, and I LOVE strategy board games-Axis and Allies, Steve Jackson's OGRE/GEV tactical small unit warfar, Avalon Hill's Blitzkreig, playing with miniatures, such was with the plastic army men(yep, set of rules for them) or Car Wars or Star Fire space series where you design your own units, and so forth.  I will think about new things to do in empire while driving on the road etc.  I'm a fan, but stuck.

First off, where is there a forum for this topic?  That will probably save me and you a lot of time!  Have played Empire off and on since mid 90's.  So very interested in modding own units but always too intimidated by the  unit editor in EDEE,  but in EDCE saw some "hey I can really do this now."  So first game I'm playing and learning on, right?  Made an attack aircraft A-10 style and apache style, and changed the air transport to speed 3-that had never seemed right to me.  Weasels explanation of WW II units on here and others describing their mods is confidence building but still learning.  Someone said on one of these threads they did a hydro plant.  Thought that was a neat idea.  after a couple of false starts, on second go round, I copied the oil refinery unit(since the base programming and commands, parameters should be about the same, right other than terrain type/resources?), changed the land resource tile to rivers only, did half value(5), of the oil refinery while upping the cost and build times(bc there are so many rivers in initial set up and I don't know how to change that resource frequency to cut it down or a specific tile for it) and  imported the port image as a reasonable equivalent since I don't know how to import images into the game yet.  It shows up on engineers and seabees construction choices but won't let me click it.    Says something about no resources if I'm reading the game window description right.  How do I tell the game that rivers are the resource you can build hydro on?  or is that something like the oil seeps that have to be there in beginning of game setup?  You see a lot I don't know.  If there is a link where I can educate myself better, please let me know!!!  Thanks all and for keeping this fantastic strategy game alive, especially to you Mark!!!
