Itch definitely wasn’t a place I considered posting my work at all until I noticed how many TTRPG modules, zines, and resources were on here. One of the big reasons I figured I’d do it is the built in community/audience for certain things. I’ll definitely distribute it elsewhere too, but I’m at least going to try out Itch for a bit and see how things go. I appreciate the response.
To the other people I've seen publishing prose stories, short or otherwise, on Itch - how are you finding the platform for distributing your work?
I recently published volume one in a serialized story about a fictional TTRPG and I was confused to not find a thread on here for "Books," since there is a "Books" tag. Just curious how to better use the platform or if I should forego it and post elsewhere altogether.
I’m a comic book and prose writer, with published work of both types. My graphic novel Re•pro•duct came out in 2016 through Magnetic Press, and since then I’ve had short work published, as well as self-published several stories. You can read some of my work on my website at https://www.austinrwilson.com/stories for free!
I want to join a Game Jam team and work on basically anything that would need writing. I’m a proofreader/creative copywriter for my day job (on an internal marketing team) and I’ve worked for a branding/marketing firm doing the same things. I have experience with dialogue, world building, concepting, plotting, beat sheats, branding, and am currently working on learning more abut writing branching narratives using the Ink system (I’m very, very early on with it still).
Do you need dialogue? Lore? Descriptions for in-game items? A title? A tagline for marketing? I’d love to join a team and help out. Feel free to respond here or swing by my website, there’s an email link there if you’d rather it not be public. I’m on Twitter as well. Thank you for reading!
