I don't usually read much fiction, but Hopeless Organic hooked me and I had to finish it within a 24 hour period!
I instantly liked Isha and Melial, their dynamic makes for a great heart of the book. It was easy to root for them ending up together. Melial learning about the human world from Isha feels like a deep well which plenty of further inspiration could be drawn from.
Overall I think the author struck a good tonal balance between building up the main characters' romance and tackling the problem of evil. It didn't feel like either side was neglected in service of the other.
The book has a good sense of humor, lots of it stemming from Isha and Melial's dynamic, but also just the way the author phrases things. Certain lines like "the transitive property of condiments" were gold.
