Hi there, it's most likely a bug, thank you for letting us know!
If you are able, could you save your game - it can be found by pressing Esc then clicking save, and clicking the new save button.
If you could kindly zip the folder located here: C:\Users\[your windows username]\AppData\LocalLow\RBgames\The Long Road And The Forest and send it to benjaminvanrijn(at)googlemail.com I can have a look and see if I can correct the issue, or at least get you past the point where you're stuck so you can dive a little deeper.
