Hi guys.
I'm very new here and have idea to create a browser game like Travian, but I want to hear more opinions about that.

I'm developer and student, don't have time for big research about this genre. I was playing Travian for the 4 years. Like it, but don't want to pay anything to win. Just my effort to be social in game and play tactics with other. I see things that I want to change:

  • Game should be more battle oriented, not resources.
  • Unit level should be secondary value in battle, and tactic will be the first. When I say tactic, I mean predefined order of units and their position in battlefield. Like receipt for cake, for example: first line will be low infantry, next line will be cavalry and etc. - user definable.
  • User will be able to name the army, units and etc. Of course, will be able to sort army into small units and control them (make, buy, sell, reinforce and giving them medals...).
  • Map will be able to show users the lines (less graphic, I mean simple arrow) of moving any army around his territory.
  • Battle will be just calculation without any graphic content like in Travian, but idea is to have more precise report. With more description what was in the battle.

So, around your opinion about text above, I want to know is it worth to make this? Will it be more interesting for players than Travian? Will there be players for such game? Right now, is it worth to make browser game or is better to make desktop?

So, will be glad to hear your opinion. Thank you in advance.
