I really like the vibe and art direction your going with. Congrats on getting a playable demo out so quickly!

These are so cute! Any chance you might make some of these little pets in all four top-down directions for a 16x16 2.5D game?

Cute game!

Yay, I won! Nice job with your first game jam <3

Thanks Ben!

Great point, haha, using native download links would be better than sharing a Google Drive :P I'll look into that!

You're right, the current game could probably do away with the hunger mechanic. My thinking was to add some survival mechanics like eating food and camping out in the woods with your friends. I'd like to add farming and other business/shopkeeping simulations at some point.

Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for taking the time to share your feedback!

Thanks for trying it, Calgerot!

Great point about villager collision. I find myself feeling nervous about going inside buildings because I'm afraid my followers will trap me in there! I like having collision because it gives character more presence in the game world. But I will add the ability for characters to push each other around so that the player doesn't get stuck.

Next steps in my roadmap include items/inventory and character customization. Ultimately I want to create an open-world sandbox. I want to procedurally generate elven villages, dwarven fortresses... NPC kingdoms and cultures. Army combat will always be a big part of the game, but there will also be areas where it's better for the hero to explore alone like dungeons in the Legend of Zelda. I'm also thinking of using chatGPT to generate stories and NPC behaviors, similar to this Stanford prototype.

Ambitious, haha. Work has been picking up and keeping me busy. But if there's enough interest in this game, I can try putting together a Kickstarter.

Thank you!

Thanks so much for the comment and for playing the game!

Thanks for playing!

Really nice job with this game, Ciso! I was surprised by how smooth it was in the browser. I also really like all of the sound effects and the background music. They really breath life into the game and give it a whole other dimension. Great job as well with the pixel art animation, especially how the cape flows while the character is moving.

Would love to learn more about the character's backstory. He kind of looks like a Mandalorian bounty hunter like Boba Fett, who also happens to be my favorite character from Star Wars. You may also consider mapping the controls such that there is a way to play the game using only the keyboard, especially for laptop users.

Great job with all of the programming. What do you think will be the core gameplay loop and where do you think you'll want to take the game next? Will this be an endless dungeon crawl where you collect loot and upgrade your character? I had a lot of fun playing this and I'm looking forward to seeing your future updates!

That's awesome, Snoblin, thanks for replying to my comment! Very much looking forward to seeing what you come up with next. I really like how you've made skeletons as well. That gave me the inspiration for a necromancer to resurrect an army of skeletons from villager corpses!

I'm making a sandbox action RPG with an emphasis on being able to build your own army to fight hordes of goblins. I mentioned your work in my latest devlog video (linked below). In that video, I also show the attack animations I made for the villagers. Thought I'd share!

Simple, yet addicting!

Thanks for making this, this is great! I really like your game as well. It ran very smoothly on my browser.

These look fantastic. Really nice pallet. Would love to see an attack animation for the villagers as well!

Looks like Nethack! Is it a roguelike?

This is really great, Pita. Amazing work. The documentation makes the assets much easier to use. The whole package is perfectly organized. Can't wait for the next bundle.
