As of v1.6, there shouldn't be any passwords on the zip. If you're playing the one with password then you're on the older version (v1.5). Maybe you'll want to  try the newest version and see the differences.

For now, we're working on new contents such as characters and stages. As for online mode, unfortunately it's impossible for us to implement it in this ancient engine (2DFM). There's an online play plugin called LilithPort written for 2DFM games, but we usually use Parsec instead.

This we're not sure about the cause, as we've never had this problem before.

There're few things you can try

1. Make sure the file path is not too long.
2. Try to play on local drives instead of external ones.
3. Make an exception in the anti-virus for this exe.

Have you been running the game for a rather long time when this happened?

The engine may start to act weird(including stuff goes missing) after running for certain time. If that happens, restarting the game should fix the problem.

Did you see the title screen? Which mode did you choose that it crashed?

Please avoid pressing start in character select screen, as this may mess up the game (an unsolvable bug of an ancient engine)
Restart the game should fix the problem.

Also if you're using joystick or gamepad, it's highly recommended to use programs that translates gamepad input into keyboard input (e.g. joy2key)

This is a 2D Fighter Maker 2nd (2DFM2) game

Choose option > game
The first slider from the top is the number of rounds to win in VS mode. It's set to 1 by default.

Enter VS mode, then press F button on both 1P and 2P controls once.

You should then see "Practice" at the bottom of the screen

Controllers and joysticks should work
If yours doesn't work, you can use software such as Joy2Key to convert your controller input into keyboard input

You don't need to install it, just run the exe file

The game engine text is written in Japanese. You may want to change the default language to Japanese for "non-unicode apps"(no need to change system language)

You can also check our game manual page 05, 06 if you want to know what the settings are.

Seems like you didn't enable directplay. Try to enable it in Windows instead of simply downloading the dll file.
