I prefer this to Cepheus Quantum, since the latest version took out the Classes now and just tells you to distribute the five points however you want. It also removes lifeblood (I'm pretty sure the original version of CQ has lifeblood, though I could be wrong). I think the perfect system could be a hybrid between this and CQ, where you go by this for everything it says, and then go to CQ for everything else like starship combat and Star travel.

Question about the Basic Mechanic, though. It doesn't say that you receive a penalty when trying to do something you don't have a skill for. Traditionally, Traveller games give a -3 penalty although CQ has a -1 penalty. Does this system just treat unskilled checks as "zero level" skills?

I'm working on a browser based tool to play solo rpgs, and I was wanting to add a feature to generate NPCs. Would you mind if I  implemented NQG in it, providing a link back to this page of course?

Is a starship essentially treated as another character in whatever system you're using this with (Into the Odd, Cairn, etc)?

Also, do you have any advice on determining how many slots a ship has?

How do the omens work?

This is awesome, thank you! Since you mention Cairn as one of the suggestions on one of your comments below, I was wondering if you had any advice for turning the monster stats into Cairn stats?

I am loving the app. The only thing missing is a dice roller. Perhaps you can add a row of buttons at the bottom for d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20, and d100? Or maybe a button that lets you input a dice code (for example, 2d6+3)? It would be awesome to not have to switch apps to roll dice for ability checks or combat. Other than that, it's an awesome app that allows me to do just about everything I need to do within the app.

I have to admit, I originally downloaded this for free. But I've found it so useful in my solo run, I just had to come back and throw a few dollars your way. Very good job on this tool!
