I’ve been working on this game for almost 6 years. Hell, it might actually be 6 years now. I can’t fully recall.
I am bad at finishing things. I love starting things and playing with them and then moving on to the next new thing. Back in August, I made a bunch of small games in an attempt to finish more things. At the same time, I started formalizing this game from a notebook of dozens and dozens of pages into an actual document.
Then, two weeks or so ago, I started this document. I wanted to narrow my focus just to get something out. I kept adding and adding to that first draft, which is what I always do. With this, I am trying to keep it focused. Maybe there is already too much, but who knows?
In this chapter, I wanted to briefly mention some things that I’ve already worked on, and I am going to think about adding to this document with future editions. Here’s a list of those:
- Relationships – These are going to be a special type of Role that is connected to either other players or NPCs. As long as you maintain this relationship, it will provide you with a bonus similar to how Roles work.
- Cover – You have to make sure no one knows who you are! You don’t want to blow your cover.
- Heart and Hatred – Attributes that build over time as you do more good or fail to help. Meant to show the general vibe of the community. Used to make big swinging narrative moves.
- Specials! – Locking in 3 or more of the same face can make you do a COOL MOVE. Gives you more options during a confrontation
- Classes and Grades – You are a teenager after all. You can’t just skip class and hope to keep your cover. Will have to spend off-screen time working on homework, or maybe there’s a big test that gets interrupted!
- Complications – If your grades start to slip, or if someone thinks you’re causing trouble, you might get a narrative complication. That could be something like getting grounded or having detention, or maybe you hurt yourself and have to cover it up.
- Home Base – Your HQ and safe haven. This could be where you meet up and maybe where your powers come from
- MECH FIGHTS – Oh yeah, I really want this too. As the year goes on, I’ll work on adding these in. First, I want to playtest the real meat of it all, though. That’s why this document exists.
