Thanks for such a big post! Yeah, even I don't like this mechanic, but I was really out of ideas and that how I implemented theme. About movement - it's fully physical, so that why it is so unresponsive, I would make it better but I had not enough time. And about sound sliders it's my bad, but I've realized that when it was too late.

Wow! Nice platformer, really good idea! But something strange with controls and sometimes blue box just sticks to the walls and it is kinda glitch you can use to jump much higher. And only two levels... but I like it!
