Is there any way to see the test code used for the checks?

From a theoretical perspective, I understand. Normals and planes, and all that. What I don't see is how to add another normal to the backside of my face in sketchup. Google isn't really helping me out either. I appreciate the offer to make one, but I would like to understand how to make it work for myself.
When building castles, I like to get the whole structure of the castle set up before working on the interior, or sometimes I like to go back and rework the interior after putting a roof on a building. In these cases it would be helpful if I could select blocks and make them see through in the editor to make interior work more feasible. While a block is see through, other blocks should not snap to being placed on top of it.
See through blocks should still render opaque on export.
What would be even better would be to save groups of blocks to layers that I can toggle to see through quickly as a group.
For clarity, this is not a request to set alpha values on exported models, to make the models see through, only to make editing easier for building interiors by temporarily making groups of blocks see through in the editor.
I would love to be able to set my hot keys for different actions like flip, rotate, etc. I use a non QWERTY keyboard, and the built in hotkeys don't make as much sense with their positions.
Also, I would love the be able to move blocks with the keyboard vs having to always drag them, and have hotkey options for resizing/scaling blocks. Ideally I would love to have all the actions hotkey-able!
