It is amazing, honestly more than I expected from what is at its core an educational game. It is really well thought out and doesn't just rely on the education factor, the game mechanics aren't shallow, it's fun.

The game-play style is similar, mostly strategy with some built in mini-games for hunting. There are some cool mechanics unique to this game that you will adjust to from Oregon Trail, but it is incredibly educational and provides a much needed perspective in this game genre.
