(and yes, there are plenty of unity games on itch)

*taps microphone* Hello!

This is the devlog for an as-of-yet-unnamed team of 5! We are:

Game Designer: Radioman

Programmers: Connor, Classified39

Artist: Atlas

Composer: LeoW

We came together with the idea of a sci-fi horror game, and with the theme being "Growth", hope to make a game about a bio-tech monstrosity that eats other creatures like itself, with the hope of growing and evolving to a point where it can escape the condemned lab from which it came.

Obviously some aspects aren't finalized (jam hasn't even started yet after all), but we think this is a pretty solid idea.

So, let's call the day of brainstorming Day 0 (all good arrays of numbers start at 0, right?)

Let's see, how to summarize...

Radio did his level best to wrangle our various ideas into functional-sounding game mechanics. One idea we had that hasn't already been mentioned is the concept that your enemies need to eat, too, and depriving them of food can weaken them over time. Another idea, originating from Connor and Classified, is that certain enemies will go into a frenzy if kept from food for too long, attacking anything in sight!

Atlas began looking up images of video game monsters, as well as laboratories both real and fictional, to start creating a mood board for the art.

LeoW, meanwhile, now has a playlist of reference music from HyperLight Drifter, Portal 2, SOMA, and other games with a similar thematic style.

Well, happy Game Jam everyone! H Y P E
