To be fair, I wanted there to be some feel of urgency, and I feel like changing the height quicker would lessen that. Maybe if I work further on the game I’ll add an easy mode where the arrows can be held instead of mashed while still keeping the normal mode as the intended way to play.

Just noticed a bug with the current version of the game. The first one is that after you have fully trained an aspect of your army, you can still do it, with seemingly no reward, while the price still goes up. Otherwise though, great game ^^

Due to how inexperienced I am (and the fact that my laptop is shared), there's no way I can make deadline. I'm in way over my head doing any game jam right now, let alone a 4 day one. It was fun, though, I'll say that. If anyone wants my source code and to try pick up from where I left off, feel free to ask. Who knows, maybe next time.

So far I have:

  • A way of loading 12 rooms
  • A little box containing those rooms
  • Some cool placeholder graphics

I'm currently working on:

  • "Enemy" spawning
  • Proper levels

And I'm yet to do:

  • Make the thing that makes this game hard
  • Make proper art
  • Have a way of making "levels" that get harder (unless I make this a game where you do the objective as quick as possible and win)

So, just to clarify, premade art and music is fine, but the code must be done by the person making the game?
