I've been making games as my side hobby for several years since middle school, and have put them all on the App Store with no thoughts on how to approach marketing. I was lucky enough to get quite a bit of natural traffic - over a hundred thousand downloads - but I didn't monetise anything at the time and and rush of new impressions eventually faded away. This current game is the third iteration of a game idea that originated from a small conversation eighth grade with a friend who urged me to make an FPS game. Almost three years later, this game is now finally something I'm proud enough to come out openly about and present to everyone I know - a simple but more beautiful and less buggy first person shooter that supports multiplayer across continents which can actually be played for hours without crashing (doesn't sound like much, but multiplayer in previous versions were virtually unplayable; I first used simple http requests, transferred to Unity's now-deprecated P2P UNET system, then finally learned to write some python websocket code). Anyways, I find that I can personally enjoy playing my own game online with my friends and the occasional internet user, so I think you would too :- )
Availability:
- Desktop (itch.io downloads) for Mac and Windows
- Mobile for iOS and Android
- Web version on my website
If you like what I'm making, feel free to comment and please do share this around. I often have to resort to playing with bots because not enough people are consistently online.
